How to Compare AI Visual Explainer Tools With the Same PDF—Plus a Real Golpo Test

A reproducible same-PDF test for AI explainer tools, with a real Golpo NIST CSF 2.0 video, scoring rubric, source-fidelity checks, and FAQs.

An evidence-led Golpo guide illustrating how to compare ai visual explainer tools with the same pdf—plus a real golpo test

“Upload a PDF” is a feature claim. Turning the right parts of that PDF into a clear, faithful video is the real test. A fair comparison fixes the source, audience, objective, duration, and scoring rules before any tool sees the file.

Evidence boundary: we ran the NIST document through Golpo. We did not buy and render the same file through competing products. Their rows below summarize official documentation only—not observed output quality.

The public test document

We selected The NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0. It is authoritative, public, structured, and difficult enough to expose weak summarization. The explainer must preserve six exact Function names, the central role of GOVERN, the concurrent—not linear—relationship, and the fact that the framework describes outcomes rather than prescribing one implementation.

The real Golpo result

Test configuration

  • Source: complete 32-page NIST CSWP 29 PDF
  • Objective: two-minute orientation for business and technology leaders
  • Style: Canvas Editorial Expanded
  • Guardrails: no invented statistics, certifications, or guarantees; exact Function names; source shown in final frame
  • Review: compare narration, visible labels, and implied sequence with the PDF—not merely whether the video looks polished

How to run the same-PDF test

  1. Freeze the source. Save the file and checksum so every tool receives identical bytes.
  2. Freeze the brief. Use one audience, outcome, duration, and prohibition list.
  3. Capture configuration. Record plan, model, style, language, and every instruction.
  4. Save the first output. Do not silently repair it before scoring.
  5. Review fact by fact. Mark preserved, omitted, changed, invented, or visually misleading.
  6. Measure work to acceptable. First-draft speed is less useful than time to a publishable result.

The scoring sheet

DimensionWhat to inspectFail example
Required factsNames, numbers, dates, units, labelsRECOVER is omitted
RelationshipsSequence, hierarchy, causality, qualificationConcurrent Functions become six chronological steps
Unsupported additionsClaims absent from the sourceCalling CSF use a certification
Visual implicationWhat the scene suggests, not only what narration saysA compliance badge implies guaranteed compliance
Editing burdenMinutes and operations to acceptable outputA fast draft needs a full rebuild
PublishabilityFidelity, clarity, accessibility, rightsReadable script but illegible labels

Which products belong in a later paid run?

Include tools only when their current workflow accepts the source and produces the output category being compared. Avatar-first, slide-first, and visual-explainer tools can all be useful, but they should not receive one blended “AI video” score. Record each product's own output model and use official documentation to configure it correctly before the test.

What we can—and cannot—conclude from the Golpo run

The Golpo output demonstrates that the complete PDF can become a coherent visual orientation while retaining the six Function names, the central role of GOVERN, the concurrent relationship, and the non-prescriptive qualification in its generated script. It also demonstrates a reviewable chain: source checksum, exact prompt, request configuration, generated script, raw MP4, and contact-sheet inspection.

It does not prove that every long document will be summarized correctly, that every visible label is perfect, that Golpo is faster than an untested product, or that a two-minute overview replaces reading the framework. Those claims require separate evidence. A believable benchmark records both the success and the boundary.

For a paid multi-tool extension, keep every first output, record start and completion timestamps, time each manual correction, and publish the normalized scoring sheet. Do not change the prompt for one provider after seeing its weakness unless every provider receives the same revised brief.

Why Golpo has an evidence advantage here: the source, explanation brief, visual instructions, voice direction, and raw output can be shown together. That makes the result inspectable instead of asking the reader to trust a feature table.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI video tool preserves PDF facts best?

That cannot be answered responsibly without testing the same permitted source, objective, duration, and review standard. This guide shows a real Golpo result and a protocol for comparing other tools under those controls.

Can AI correctly explain tables and diagrams?

Sometimes, but text extraction alone may lose spatial meaning. Check every label, relationship, unit, and conclusion against the source and insert the real diagram when literal accuracy matters.

What does source-grounded mean?

It means the supplied source constrains the explanation. It does not mean every statement or visual is automatically correct; the final script and scenes still require review.

Did Golpo test paid competitor accounts for this guide?

No. Competitor capabilities are described only from linked official documentation. No competitor output, speed, or quality score is presented as an observed result.

How much human review is required?

Enough to check every consequential name, number, instruction, qualification, and visual implication. High-risk material needs an accountable subject-matter reviewer.
