Golpo vs Higgsfield, HeyGen, Pictory and Vyond: Explainer Video Costs
One concise comparison of Golpo, Higgsfield, HeyGen, Pictory and Vyond: what the published prices cover and what changes after the first render.

A useful AI explainer video budget includes the illustrations, narration, synchronization and visual corrections needed before publishing.
Our pick for recurring whiteboard explainers is Golpo: its standard workflow combines those production steps with an included first visual-edit version. Growth allocates approximately $1.33 per minute when its full monthly allowance is used. That is a subscription allocation, not a $1.33 checkout price.
The alternatives use different billing units. Here is the short comparison—and what each number actually buys.
Comparison basis: Published by Golpo. USD prices checked October 24, 2026. These are calculations from official pricing and documentation, not an identical-output production test. Full allowance use is assumed; taxes, labor, premium extras and unused capacity are excluded. Actual generation quotes govern.
AI explainer video cost comparison at a glance
| Tool and workflow | Payment or published basis | Cost reference | Visual-revision budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golpo Starter / Growth | Starter: $39.99/month; 20 minutes Growth: $199.99/month; 150 standard minutes |
About $2 per minute (Starter) or $1.33 per minute (Growth) | First edited version included until finalized |
| Higgsfield Explainer | Published example: $3.60 for 20 seconds | About $10.80 per minute, extrapolated | No fixed revision price established by that example |
| Higgsfield Content Factory | Published one-minute, one-episode example | About $3.15 per minute | Depends on the selected change and workflow |
| HeyGen Creator / Standard Video Agent | $29/month; 600 credits | $2.90–$3.87 per initial minute at 60–80 credits | New AI media can consume additional credits |
| Pictory Professional | $59/month; 6,000 AI credits | $2.20 image subtotal in the example below; complete-minute total varies | AI image generation/editing uses the selected model's rate |
| Vyond Starter / Vyond Go | $99/month; 10,000 AI credits; 800 per generation | $8.25 per assumed usable generation; duration determines cost per minute | Studio editing and additional AI operations are different cost categories |
Official inputs: Golpo pricing, Higgsfield Explainer, Content Factory, HeyGen pricing and agent estimates, Pictory pricing, Vyond plans and credit schedule.
Three numbers that need context
Higgsfield has two separate benchmarks. Explainer's $10.80 is our extrapolation: $3.60 × 3. Content Factory's $3.15 is its published one-minute estimate, using a rounded credit value based on the Plus plan. Neither is a universal Higgsfield price.
Pictory's $2.20 is not a finished-video quote. Six original illustrations plus ten AI image-edit outputs, using Nano Banana Pro at 14 credits each, consume 224 credits. The allocation is 224 × $59 ÷ 6,000 ≈ $2.20 for image work only. Other applicable production usage is additional. Cheaper image models can materially reduce this subtotal. See Pictory's model rate card.
Vyond's rate depends on usable duration. Its allowance fits 12 whole 800-credit Vyond Go generations: $99 ÷ 12 = $8.25 each, before other AI usage. If all 12 become usable two-minute videos, that allocates to $4.13 per minute; if each is one minute, it is $8.25. This is a scenario, not Vyond's fixed per-minute tariff or a platform-wide 12-video limit.
What happens when the first video needs changes?
Golpo includes repeated prompt-based frame changes within the first edited version, across sessions until finalization. You can simplify diagrams, replace illustrations and correct labels while retaining the original narration. Later edited versions are chargeable; post-render narration changes are outside this visual-edit allowance. See the editing guide.
HeyGen makes planning and pre-generation script rewrites free. Many manual edits also carry no extra generation charge by themselves. New AI media is different: its published image-asset rate is 2 credits per image when that operation applies. Credit rules.
Pictory meters AI image outputs by model. Higgsfield supports targeted editing, and Vyond supports draft and scene customization. Avoid assuming that every correction requires an entirely new video—or that every manual edit consumes credits. Check the operation's quote. Higgsfield editing · Vyond workflow.
Which tool should you choose?
- Golpo: our recommendation for recurring illustrated lessons, onboarding and product explainers where a predictable duration budget and included visual iteration matter.
- Higgsfield: consider its preset-driven Explainer workflow or Content Factory for faceless episodic content; price the specific tool you intend to use.
- HeyGen: consider its broader agent and presenter toolkit when your work spans several video formats. Its monthly Creator payment is lower than Golpo Growth's.
- Pictory: consider its broader editing and AI-model choices. Budget the actual generated assets and revisions rather than equating a credit allowance with finished minutes.
- Vyond: consider it when templates, character staging and detailed scene control are central to the result.
For smaller black-and-white projects, Golpo Starter is $39.99/month for 20 standard minutes, approximately $2 per minute at full use. Growth is the first color tier. Annual discounts change both rates and payment commitments; the detailed guides below cover those calculations.
Compare the same approved script, visual brief and required corrections. Then measure total software spend ÷ usable finished minutes, with production time tracked separately.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI explainer tool is cheapest?
There is no universal winner across every workflow. Golpo Growth's $1.33 standard-minute allocation is below the quoted Higgsfield and HeyGen benchmarks here. Pictory's model choices and Vyond's usable output duration prevent a single reliable ranking across all five.
Does Golpo's first edit mean one prompt?
No. It means the first edited version, with repeated frame changes across sessions until finalized. The original narration remains unchanged; later edited versions are chargeable.
Are these prices for identical videos?
No. They are documented rates and stated calculations. They do not establish equal visual quality, production speed or identical credit usage for the same script.
Is a subscription allocation what I pay for one video?
No. You pay the subscription commitment. Dividing it by the full allowance gives a planning rate; unused capacity, retries and additional generation can raise your actual cost per finished minute.
