Golpo AI vs Vyond Starter monthly pricing: $39.99 for 20 video minutes versus $99 for 10,000 AI credits

How much does a whiteboard explainer video cost with Golpo AI vs Vyond? This head-to-head compares Golpo Starter at $39.99/month with Vyond Starter at $99/month, using regular monthly subscriptions. The worked example is about $2 per minute for 20 Golpo minutes versus $4.13 per minute for 12 usable two-minute Vyond Go videos. Below are the arithmetic, editing rules, and workflow differences behind those figures.

Golpo AI vs Vyond: the head-to-head comparison

The quick answer: Golpo has the lower monthly entry price for short whiteboard explainers. Vyond offers an AI generation workflow plus a scene editor and whiteboard templates. Choose based on the finished explanation you need and how much editing it takes to get there.

How the $2 vs $4.13 cost-per-minute example works

Golpo: $39.99 divided by 20 minutes

Use the full 20-minute allowance for standard video generation:

$39.99 ÷ 20 = $1.9995, or about $2 per minute.

For ten usable two-minute videos, that is about $4 per video in allocated subscription cost. If you only produce ten usable minutes that month, the allocation becomes about $4 per minute. Paying for an allowance does not mean every included minute becomes a finished video.

Vyond: $99 divided by 24 assumed usable minutes

Using 800 credits per Vyond Go generation:

  1. 10,000 ÷ 800 = 12 whole generations, with 400 credits left over.
  2. Assume all 12 generations become usable two-minute videos: 12 × 2 = 24 minutes.
  3. $99 ÷ 24 = $4.125, or about $4.13 per minute.

This is $8.25 per assumed two-minute video. It assumes no discarded generations, no retries, and no additional AI charges. Vyond documents separate credit use for some speech, avatar, translation, and image operations. Video duration also varies, so 24 usable minutes is an assumption rather than a promised monthly output.

This is not a 12-video cap on Vyond. The calculation only allocates Starter's AI credits to Vyond Go generation. It does not measure everything you can create or edit in Vyond Studio. If a template-based Studio workflow meets your needs without using those generations, your economics will be different.

Use finished minutes to measure your own cost

Actual software cost per usable minute = (subscription + add-ons + paid revisions + applicable delivery fees) ÷ finished usable minutes. Add your production and review time separately. This example compares software subscription allocations; it does not price your labor.

For example, if the 12 assumed Vyond videos average only one minute, the same $99 allocates to $8.25 per minute. If either product needs repeated generations, usable output can fall. Conversely, more usable output from your chosen workflow can lower the allocation.

Golpo's first edited version is free until finalized

Golpo includes the first edited version free on every tier. Revise as many frames as needed, across sessions, until you finalize that version. Multiple frame changes within that first version do not turn into separate paid versions. Later edited versions may cost extra.

That makes the first review pass useful: inspect diagrams, labels, scene continuity, and visual accuracy, then collect the changes before finalizing. The distinction is between revising the current version and starting another edited version after finalization.

Frame editing changes visuals. It does not replace the original narration. If the spoken script needs to change, plan for a new generation. See the Golpo frame-by-frame editing guide for the credit examples and editor controls.

Vyond also supports editing. Its script-to-video workflow lets you adjust a draft in Quick Edit or customize it further in Vyond Studio. Separate ordinary scene work from AI operations when estimating credit use.

From an original script to a finished whiteboard explainer

For an educational channel, start with a script that explains one concept: for example, how compound interest grows or why a circuit needs a closed loop. Use the same approved narration when comparing the tools so that the topic and learning objective stay consistent.

The Golpo workflow

  1. Paste your original script. Keep facts, examples, and the explanation in the spoken script. See Prompt Mode vs Script Mode if you want to preserve your own wording.
  2. Generate a narrated whiteboard explainer. Select a duration supported by your plan. Starter suits black-and-white videos up to two minutes.
  3. Review every scene. Check that the narration and drawings explain the same thing and that text is readable at the intended viewing size.
  4. Refine the visuals. Use the included first edited version for frame corrections, then finalize when the visuals are ready.
  5. Play the finished video and record the credits used. Review the exported result from beginning to end. Keep the actual credit deduction beside the usable duration when calculating your cost.

The Vyond workflow

Paste or upload your script to Vyond Go, select a supported layout, and create a draft. Review it in Quick Edit, then use Studio when the scene needs more customization. Vyond also has a whiteboard animation template collection. Examine the template and output you intend to use; a generic Vyond Go draft is not automatically a matched whiteboard result.

For both tools, judge the video that comes out. Does the drawing explain the concept? Does a diagram remain consistent between scenes? Are the words and numbers correct? How much hands-on work remains before the video is ready for a viewer? There is no matched timing or quality score in this guide because no same-input paid benchmark was conducted.

Which is better for your channel or explainer-video service?

Choose Golpo for affordable, short whiteboard explanations

Golpo is a strong starting point when your format is an original script, narration, and explanatory drawings, and you want a lower monthly entry cost. Its included first edited version gives you room to refine the visuals before finalizing. For an educational channel producing short black-and-white explainers, those are practical advantages.

Match the plan to the channel. Starter's two-minute maximum and black-and-white output will not suit every format. Check the current plan features before budgeting for longer episodes, color, or vertical videos.

Choose Vyond when scene customization is central to the video

Vyond is worth considering when you want to work from its templates, stage animated scenes, or customize a generated draft in a scene editor. That wider editing workflow may matter more to your project than the entry price. Evaluate the whiteboard style on your actual topic rather than assuming that either tool will produce the same visual explanation.

If you sell videos, include client-delivery rights in the quote

Client work has a different cost question from publishing on your own channel. Vyond's commercial-rights guidance states a $99 per-video transfer fee for Starter, Professional, and Enterprise videos transferred for another business's use. Its Agency plan includes unlimited rights transfers. Those charges are outside the $4.13 subscription example. Check the current terms for the exact delivery you are selling; a plan's commercial-use wording alone does not describe every resale arrangement.

Our recommendation: Start with Golpo if your goal is recurring short whiteboard explainers at a lower monthly price. Pilot Vyond if its templates and scene controls are important to the result. Compare one finished explanation, the actual credits used, and the editing time before scaling production.

Frequently asked questions

Is Golpo AI cheaper than Vyond?

Golpo Starter costs $39.99 per month and Vyond Starter costs $99 per month on regular monthly billing. In this example, using 20 Golpo minutes averages about $2 per minute; 12 usable two-minute Vyond Go videos average about $4.13 per minute. These are subscription allocations at different output levels, not guaranteed production prices.

How is the $4.13 Vyond cost per minute calculated?

Divide 10,000 AI credits by 800 credits per Vyond Go generation and round down to 12 whole generations. If each becomes a usable two-minute video, that is 24 minutes. The $99 monthly subscription divided by 24 equals $4.125, rounded to $4.13. This assumes no retries or additional AI charges.

Does Vyond offer whiteboard animation?

Yes. Vyond offers whiteboard animation templates alongside other video styles. Vyond Go can generate a draft from a script, and Vyond Studio provides further customization. Compare the actual visuals and editing work for your topic.

Is the first edited version free in Golpo?

Yes. Golpo includes the first edited version free on every tier. You can revise multiple frames across sessions until you finalize that version. Later edited versions may use additional credits. Frame editing changes visuals; changing the original narration requires a new generation.

Does Vyond Starter only allow 12 videos a month?

No. Twelve is the number of whole 800-credit Vyond Go generations that fit into 10,000 credits before other AI usage. Vyond's plan separately lists 100 monthly video and GIF downloads and a 25-minute maximum video duration. Its Studio workflow is not limited to this two-minute AI-generation example.

Which should I choose for an educational YouTube channel?

Start with Golpo if your priority is short, narrated whiteboard explanations at a lower monthly entry price and black-and-white output fits your channel. Consider Vyond when template-based scenes, animated characters, or detailed scene customization are central to your format. Review a finished pilot before committing to a recurring workflow.

Pricing and help documentation checked October 20, 2026. The example uses regular monthly USD prices, not annual discounts or promotional offers. It excludes taxes, labor, retries, extra AI operations, and client-transfer fees. The 20-minute and 24-minute outputs are stated scenarios rather than observed production results.

For Vyond Go, the 800-credit figure is supported by its May 27, 2026 usage guide and September 29, 2026 pricing FAQ. An older credit-allocation page still lists 400; this guide uses the newer documentation. Confirm the in-product credit cost before generating.
