The first draft is rarely the version you publish. You tighten the opening, simplify a diagram, correct a label and ask for a clearer illustration. Those changes should be part of your video budget—not an afterthought.

Our winner for whiteboard creators who expect to revise their work: Golpo. It combines original illustrative scenes, narration and synchronized animation with duration-based pricing. You can work through multiple pre-render script drafts without an additional script-revision fee, then make unlimited prompt-based frame edits within the first edited version until you finalize it. [G6] [G8] [G3]

Pictory also generates original visuals and supports conversational video creation. Its AI production actions use credits, including AI revisions. The key comparison is therefore the cost of getting your explanation right, not simply the cost of starting a subscription. [P8]

Comparison scope: Newly AI-generated whiteboard illustrations, English narration, synchronized scenes and visual revisions. No stock footage, presenter-only output or cinematic-clip substitute. All dollar allocations assume full use of the stated subscription allowance. The worked example below is calculated from published rates, not a hands-on output test. Published by Golpo; prices checked October 24, 2026.

Golpo vs Pictory: side-by-side pricing

For a monthly comparison, Growth is Golpo's first color tier. Pictory Professional is used here rather than Starter because it offers a lower cost per included credit. [G1] [P1]

What you pay for Golpo Growth — monthly Pictory Professional — monthly
Subscription payment $199.99/month $59/month
Included production allowance 150 standard video minutes/month 6,000 AI credits/month
Allocated production rate $1.33 per standard video minute $0.009833 per included credit
Pre-render script iterations within one project No additional script-revision fee AI revisions are metered; a fixed current per-rewrite rate is not published
Prompt-based AI visual revisions Unlimited within the first edited version, until finalized Generated/edited image outputs consume credits at the selected model's rate
One Nano Banana Pro image-edit output No incremental frame-edit charge within that version 14 credits, approximately $0.14

The script-iteration policy is a Golpo product-team clarification for this guide. The other entries come from the pricing and editing references below. Subscription rates are allocations, not a one-video checkout price. [G8] [G2] [P2] [P8]

Pictory has the lower monthly entry payment in this pairing. Golpo's advantage is the included revision budget and predictable price for the complete whiteboard workflow.

A concrete cost example: six illustrations and ten AI image edits

Consider a one-minute explainer that uses six generated illustrations. During review, you request ten individual AI image-edit outputs—for example, several attempts to simplify a diagram, replace objects and improve labels.

For this example, Pictory uses Nano Banana Pro at 14 credits per generated or edited image. That produces a visible, reproducible calculation:

(6 original images + 10 edited image outputs) × 14 = 224 Pictory credits. [P4] [P2]

On Pictory Professional monthly, the image work alone allocates 224 × $59 ÷ 6,000 = $2.20. On its annual Professional plan, it allocates 224 × $420 ÷ 72,000 = $1.31. No guessed script, narration or final-generation charge has been added. [P1]

Billing basis and Golpo plan Golpo: complete standard minute, including the first visual-edit version Pictory Professional: the 224-credit image subtotal only
Monthly — Growth $1.33 $2.20, before other applicable production usage
Monthly — Business $1.28 $2.20, before other applicable production usage
Monthly — Scale $1.25 $2.20, before other applicable production usage
Annual offer — Growth $0.80 $1.31, before other applicable production usage
Annual offer — Business $0.64 $1.31, before other applicable production usage
Annual offer — Scale $0.625 $1.31, before other applicable production usage

Cost winner for this specified premium-image revision example: Golpo. Its complete standard-minute allocation is already below Pictory's image subtotal. Monthly is compared with monthly, and annual with annual. [G1] [G5] [P1]

Model and usage assumptions matter: Nano Banana Pro is not required for whiteboard content, and the example does not establish equal visual quality. Pictory offers cheaper image models, shown below. Six images and ten edits are an illustrative workload, not measured or typical usage. This is not a claim that Golpo is cheapest for every Pictory configuration.

What the annual offers require

Golpo Growth's current offer is $1,439.93 upfront for 1,800 standard minutes. Business is $2,999.94 for 4,680, and Scale is $5,999.94 for 9,600. Growth receives 40% off twelve standard monthly payments; Business and Scale receive 50% off. The totals already include those offers. Pictory Professional annual is $420 upfront for 72,000 credits. [G5] [P1]

These are different-sized commitments. Choose capacity you will use; a low allocated rate does not turn unused credits into savings. Starter remains Golpo's smaller black-and-white option at $39.99/month for 20 standard minutes, or about $2 per minute at full use. [G1]

Script revisions: get the words right before rendering

A lesson might need a simpler opening. A product explainer might need a sharper benefit. A training video might need a different example. These are normal parts of developing the explanation.

With Golpo, work through multiple script drafts within the same project before creating the video, without an extra script-revision fee. Use Edit script before creating video to review the narration first, or use Script Mode with approved wording. Keep visual directions separate from the words you want spoken. [G8] [G4]

That does not mean video generation is free. Golpo's credit guide describes staged deduction when pre-render review is enabled: 10% after script creation and 90% after video creation. The total remains the selected video's standard credit cost. The benefit is no additional fee for iterating on the project's script—not unlimited separate rendered videos. [G2]

Pictory's current agent documentation identifies AI revision as a credit-using action. It does not give a universal numerical charge for every script rewrite. Its older script-generator article describes one credit per 1,000 generated characters, but explicitly labels the credits complimentary during beta. That historical rule is not a verified current paid Pictory 3 rewrite tariff. [P13] [P7]

Golpo's practical advantage: settle the wording before spending time correcting the visual explanation.

Unlimited frame edits means more than “one free correction”

On Golpo, the included allowance is the first edited version, not one prompt or one changed frame. You can keep refining that version across sessions until it is finalized. [G3]

For example, you could ask:

Simplify the diagram. Replace the building with a school. Correct the label. Make the arrow point to the next step. Remove the extra object. Make the main relationship easier to see.

Those are six requests, not six paid edited versions. The same principle applies when a frame needs more than one attempt. The original narration stays in place while you refine the visuals. [G3]

For a selected one-minute standard project, the generation plus its first visually edited version remains one Golpo credit. Continuing to revise that same unfinalized version does not create a per-image editing bill. [G2]

The workflow is simple: refine the script, generate the video, improve the frames, then finalize the version.

How much does each Pictory edit cost?

Different actions have different billing behavior. An AI image regeneration is not the same as manually moving a caption or downloading a file that already exists.

Action Golpo Pictory
Revise the script before rendering No extra script-revision fee within the same project AI revisions use credits; the current universal per-rewrite formula is not published
Generate a replacement illustration through an AI prompt Included within the first visual-edit version Per-image generation/editing rate, depending on model
Try another AI-generated version of an image Included within that unfinalized version Another generated output draws on the applicable model allowance
Change the spoken script after video creation Separate from the visual-edit allowance Apply voice changes to affected scenes or the full narration; generation scope matters
Make another finalized edited version Later versions use credits equal to video length Further AI generation/revision usage can apply
Generate an updated final file after changes First visual-edit version included Video generation is a credit-using action; a universal export rate is not published

Sources distinguish AI generation from ordinary editor controls; no per-click fee is assumed here. [G8] [G7] [P5] [P6] [P3]

Published image-editing rates

Below are selected Pictory models with clearly published rates. Dollar values use Professional monthly's $59/6,000-credit allowance and count one resulting image per operation. They are image-operation costs only, not complete-video totals. [P1] [P14]

Selected Pictory model Credits per image generation/edit output Allocated cost per output Ten outputs
Flux 0.6 $0.0059 $0.06
Seedream 2 $0.0197 $0.20
Nano Banana Lite 4 $0.0393 $0.39
Amazon Nova Canvas 4 $0.0393 $0.39
Nano Banana Pro 14 $0.1377 $1.38
Golpo: prompts within the first visual-edit version 0 additional $0 additional $0 additional

Pictory's model pages describe prompt editing; the help-center rate card groups image generation and editing. Use the model and quote displayed for the actual operation, especially when an edit invokes a different model or requests multiple outputs. The cheaper options can materially reduce Pictory's visual bill. [P9] [P10] [P11] [P12] [P4] [P2]

After a narration or post-production change

Pictory lets you apply spoken-script changes to the affected scenes or the full script. A complete voiceover regeneration creates new audio for the whole narration; a scene change does not automatically mean regenerating every scene. [P5]

Its Pictory 3 guide lists AI creation, AI revision, voices and final video generation among credit-using actions. An updated file must be generated after further edits. Downloading an already completed file is a separate action. There is no published universal dollar total for every possible post-production correction. [P3]

Golpo's advantage is specifically its included visual revision workflow. Rewriting a recorded sentence or generating additional finalized versions is not covered by that unlimited-frame-edit promise. [G7]

Why Golpo is our pick for recurring whiteboard explainers

The whole explanation is the starting point. Golpo creates whiteboard scenes around narration, rather than treating the project as an image order. That fits lessons, onboarding, product explanations and process training. [G6]

The review cycle is part of the value. Multiple pre-render script drafts and an unmetered first visual-edit version let you refine the wording and drawings at the appropriate stage. The price comparison should reflect those opportunities to correct the video—not only its first render. [G8] [G3]

You can budget by output duration. Within the standard workflow, adding another prompt to refine a frame inside that first version does not add a separate image charge. That is a concrete advantage for a team building a library of explainers. [G2]

Our recommendation: choose Golpo when the job is a complete whiteboard explanation that you expect to review and improve. Pictory remains an alternative for a broader production workflow, but Golpo is the clearer fit for the included, iterative editing process compared here.

Frequently asked questions

Is Golpo better than Pictory for whiteboard explainer videos?

It is our recommendation for this specific workflow: generated illustrative scenes, synchronized narration, pre-render script iteration and repeated prompt-based visual revisions. This is a workflow-and-pricing recommendation, not a claim of independently tested visual superiority. [G6] [G8] [G3]

Does Golpo include only one editing prompt?

No. You can revise multiple frames repeatedly within the first edited version and continue across sessions until finalization. The limit is the version, not a single prompt. [G3]

Can I try different scripts without extra fees?

Within the same project's pre-render script workflow, yes: there is no additional script-revision fee. That does not include separately rendered videos or unlimited post-render narration changes. [G8]

How much does a Pictory script rewrite cost?

A fixed current Pictory 3 rate is not publicly specified in the reviewed documentation. Its June 2025 beta article states one credit per 1,000 generated characters, with complimentary beta credits; that should not be presented as today's paid rate. [P7] [P13]

Does Pictory charge for every manual edit?

That is not established. Its editor supports manual text, crop and layer adjustments as well as AI generation. This guide applies image charges to AI-generated/edited outputs, not every mouse click or text correction. [P6]

Are voiceover and synchronization included in Golpo?

Yes, in the standard whiteboard-generation workflow. The prices here exclude avatars and other premium extras. [G7]

Can Pictory use original AI visuals instead of stock footage?

Yes. Pictory's AI Studio offers image-generation models and prompt-based visual editing. The worked example uses newly generated images, not stock footage. [P14]

What happens after I finalize my first edited version in Golpo?

Later edited versions are chargeable. Complete the intended visual corrections before finalizing, and treat a later spoken-script rewrite as a different production task. [G7]

Choose a video budget that leaves room to get it right

A useful whiteboard video needs more than a first render. It needs a clear script, the right illustrations and enough freedom to fix what is not working.

That is why we choose Golpo for iterative whiteboard production: original scenes, synchronized narration, multiple pre-render script drafts and unlimited prompt-based frame edits within the first edited version until finalized. [G7] [G8] [G3]

G8. Golpo product-team clarification supplied for this guide, October 24, 2026: multiple script drafts/iterations before video generation within the same project do not incur an additional script-revision fee. This clarification was provided by the publisher; the public script guide documents the review workflow but does not separately itemize this iteration policy. It does not mean separate rendered videos or post-render narration regeneration are free.
